Visual Job Analysis of Airport Traffic Control Towers: Class D Airspace and Visual Flight Rules
In 2011, the FAA’s Human Factors Division (ANG-C1) developed a Job Analysis (JA) for the job of the Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) controller. Through a contract with ANG-C1, Fort Hill Group customized the ATCT JA to reflect additional visual tasks performed by ATCT controllers at airports in Class D airspace. With the focus of airports in Class D airspace, the Visual Job Analysis (V-JA) includes only those JA tasks that are visually based tasks or require visually based information.
